Brad needed funding to access the drugs he needed that were not covered under BC Medical Services Plan. A Facebook page was set up, along with a letter-writing campaign to help Brad get the drugs he needed to slow the progress of the disease. He did finally get the drugs, and happily is seeing significant improvement in his condition – enough that he is back on the water.
The local dragon boating community wanted to do something to help raise awareness, and funds. This year’s Sprints will continue to support Muscular Dystrophy.
The Okanagan Super Sprints & Pledge Drive continue to grow. Eighteen teams have registered to date. The 250 m races take place on Skaha Lake Saturday, July 2 starting at 8:30 am and running until 2:30 pm. Community members are encouraged to come to the beach and take in some of the racing. Penticton teams are always looking for new members.
